How do e-consults work?
Patients bring their concerns to their DPC provider, who then determines the appropriate specialty referral. The DPC provider submits the question, applicable history and medical records to the specialist for review. Typically within 24-48 hours, the DPC provider can follow up with the patient regarding the specialist recommendations. Recommendations may include further laboratory and imaging workup, intervention with medication or other treatments.
